A great turnout for Lady Captain’s Day with 11 visitors joining 11 home club members to contest the Cobbler’s Cup (over 15 holes).
A few scattered showers didn’t dampen our enthusiasm or scoring as it proved a tightly contested affair.

Morag and Anne got off to the strongest start with the only birdie 3 on the first.
On the 4th, Elena and Margaret achieved the only 2. Sadly there was no jackpot prize for this today. However, Margaret did win the Nearest The Pin prize in the process. They also recorded the best total gross score of the day – a very respectable 64.
Hilary put us close on the 10th with her tee shot but sadly the Nearest the Pin was only for the first time round.

Some of the local flora spotted on the right hand rough on the 6th.

The Nearest the Line prize on the 8th hole was won by Christine. A very tricky shot into the strong head wind. Personally, I was having my own Nearest The Fairway competition on the 8th. (Spoiler alert: I lost).
After all the cards were submitted we had 3 pairs on net 57.
<Drum roll> And in reverse order, on countback we have:
4th Gill & Hilary
3rd Chris & Helga
2nd Elena & Margaret
And scooping the trophy with a great net 56…
1st Alison & Marena
Very well done!
I would quote Alison’s reaction to the news that they’d won – but this is a family blog 😉

We all gathered in the clubhouse for a fabulous feast. Many thanks to everyone who contributed: Erica for organising the food, everyone who contributed puddings and cakes, the visitors who made it such a fun day, the Lady Captain for the prizes and everyone else who helped it run smoothly in the clubhouse.
I look forward to seeing all the visitors again at the Muirhead Rosebowl on Saturday August 10th. This was a great warm up!
