As we head towards the longest day of the year the course has never looked better and is busy with members and visitors alike. On Wednesday the ladies played for the McEwan Cup and for the second week running the winners was Elena Rogers who came in with a great net score of 69. With mixed weather this week things have been quite around the club, however both ladies and gents competitions have been played. In the ladies extra medal the winner was the winner was one of our new lady members, Gill Warnock with 30 points. In the gents June medal the winner was Scott Jamieson with a great net 64. The gents have now completed their Club Championship qualifying and the draw for the round of 16 is up in the clubhouse. It has been a busy week for the club and with the course in magnificient condition there have been plaudits a plenty. On Wednesday the Ladies held their June medal. The winner was Elena Rogers with a fine net 71. On Thursday we held our Seniors Open which had a very good entry from both our own members and visitors. This week the club hosted the area primary schools championship. With every club in Dumfries & Galloway entering we had more than 50 children playing the Fledgeling course. The golf on show showed the value of good coaching from an early age with some fantastic swings on show from children aged from 7 to 10. The winning school team was Kirkcudbright and the best score also came from this school. This week in the Ladies May Burkinshaw Putter the club's most recent member, Gill Warnock returned a fantastic net 72 on what was only her second round on the course. Alas Gill's score was just not good enough to record the win as Kay Gillespie managed round with only 33 putts to win with a fine total of 103. In the gents Glenkens Tankard on Sunday the young pairing of Scott Jamieson and Alex Long held sway with a superb net 62.4. With the rain continuing to stay away the course is firming up and good scores are hard to come by. In the Ladies May Medal both Chris McIntyre & Kay Gillespie recorded fine net 73's. With the weather holding up we have been able to take advantage and some hard work has been done on the course. The greens have been verticut and the cutters lowered on the mower with the result that they are looking very good and playing even faster. Marena has been busy painting the distance markers and other areas with the result that everything is looking brilliant. Weekly News – Monday 24th April 2017

Once again the course has been buzzing this week with members and visitors enjoying the good weather.

On Saturday it was a pleasure to see so many of Dave’s Fledgelings recieving their weekly coaching. The youngsters are certainly progressing well.

Sunday was the Tommy Sports Greensomes for the Gents and it was Scott Jamieson who retained his Trophy albeit with a new partner, Wave Tyrrell. Scott and Wave recorded a good net 66 to win. (more…)
