Well, the wind came back with a wee bit of vengeance this week! Conditions were fairly testing in the stiff breeze... There was a great win for Marena McClymont in the first medal of the New Year. She finished four points clear of the chasing field to take the honours. Erica Porteous scored a great 2 on the 13th in the fairly blustery conditions. Well done everyone who competed in the breeze!
Welcome to 2019! In the first Winter League of the New Year, there was a great turnout and a fine victory for Erica Porteous. Despite the lack of wind, conditions were tough - there were no 2's and nobody managed a blob-free round. The view down Loch Ken was a wee bit cloudy... Playing with a newly-reduced handicap, Erica won by four points in a field of 11 golfers. Well done Erica, a great start to your golfing year! Well the great weather has well and truly broken, however the good news is that the course is back to it's beautiful green best and during August both the ladies and Gents managed to complete most of their scheduled competitions. The ladies August medal was won by Gill Warnock with a fine net 71. The ladies Muirhead Rosebowl Open was played in wet conditions and was won by the ladies secretary, Kay Gillespie with a superb 37 points. On 15th August The Doris McQueen Memorial Trophy was won by Erica Porteous with 36 points. Past members were invited to play and join us for lunch and to remember our friend Doris. The competition was also used to make a donation to McMillan Cancer Support and to enter the McMillan Silverspoons 2018 competition Erica's winning score and entry will be put forward to this competition. A cheque for £85 has been sent to McMillan Cancer Support from the Ladies Section.

MARCH MEDAL 5 ladies played in the March medal on Saturday 17th March.. It was very cold, windy and with the occasional flurry of snow. However this did not affect Chris McIntyre who fought against the elements and won with a net 70. 2 ladies played in the 9 hole qualifying competition. April Medal saw Anne McQueen back on form with a winning score of net 71.
The Glenkens Salver was played on Saturday at New Galloway. Congratulations to the winners, with an excellent 66.2, were New Galloway member Sandra Lancaster and Christine McIntosh from Wigtownshire County.
