With the weather being kind and the course looking fantastic the season is now in full swing after the first open of the year, the Ladies Glenkens Salver Greensomes. After all the effort put in by the ladies during the week in and around the clubhouse it was really good to see a big entry and the carpark full on Saturday. The winners with a very good 68.2 was Linda Jack & Fiona McGregor of Dumfries & Galloway. The leading lady from New Galloway was, Marena McClymont with her partner Helena Fox. Thanks to everyone who worked so hard to make the day a success.
Thursday was the final of the Seniors Thursday get togethers and they played for the Alan Walker Memorial Trophy. Terry Haine produced the winning round on the day. The winner of the winter accumulator was Ian McCulloch with Brian Duguid winning the overall away day accumulators.
Friday was the second round of the Summer League and once again Alex Long came up with the goods with a stunning 67-5 = 62 net.
Sunday was dry but a little cold and there was a fantastic turnout for the Chris Thomas Memorial,, Celts Challenge. The competition is in the form of a three person Texas Scramble. Every team produced some good golf, however the winners with an amazing 53 points were, Erica Porteous, Stuart Rhodes & Alex Long.
This weeks junior coaching also took place on Sunday morning and once again there was a great turnout. The club has once again set out the Blue Fledgling course and it is hoped that we will see the younsters on the course with their parents to practise what they learn at the coaching.
