Following the postponement of our opening day last Sunday the members turned out in force this Sunday in what turned out to be a mild dry afternoon.

In the annual Captain v Vice Captain match play Texas Scramble the competition was fierce and the golf excellent. The Vice Captains team got off to a flying start thanks to the superb play David Aitken (Vice Captain) & Marena McLymont (Ladies Vice Captain). However, their optomism was short lived due to the magical play of Erica Porteous & Alex Long who were playing for the captain. After they returned their score the Captain had a healthy lead. During the afternoon the match swung one way then the other as the compeditors came home. When the final tally was made the match turned out to be an amicable draw. Just the right result for a fine opening day. Following the golf some lovely soup and cheese and biscuits was provided by the ladies and our thanks go to them for this.

On Saturday the gents team met a very strong side from Wigtown & Bladnoch in the Daily Mail Team event.  Alas the away side proved to strong for New Galloway who could only manage two halves in the five matches to lose 4/1.

Also on Saturday the ladies played a nine hole stableford when Gerry MacKechnie scored an amazing 26 points. Well done Gerry.
