Congratulations to Dave Aitken on winning the Borders Trophy for the first time. A great time was enjoyed by all, fueled with red wine and the weather being particularly kind.

Final Meeting & Lunch

Our final day was a great success with a 9 hole scramble followed by our delayed Christmas lunch.

Three teams of four took part in the scramble with a maximum of 3 drives per player. One team had a disaster when both eligible drives were lost on the ninth. The winning team of Dave Aitken, Ronnie, Brian Porteous and Derek were worthy winners with 3 birdies and one bogie winning by two shots from Erica, Wave Ashley and Brian Duguid.

The lunch went well with a selection of cold meats accompanied by a selection of dishes including a wonderful salad. This was followed by a huge sticky toffee pudding and two lovely triffles

Seniors League 19:2023

Congratulations to Brian Duguid on winning the penultimate league with a great 34 points. Well done Dave Nielsen on scoring 31 points and thanks to Brian & Erica on keeping him right on the rule modification on relief for embedded stones & rocks.
It is a close run thing for winner of the League with Ashley in pole position on 57 points and Dave Aitken needing 9 points to match the 57 points for the best 6 score total. Ashley would win with the best 7 points total. Should either win the next league they would win the trophy.

McRobert Thistle Cup 2023

Congratulations to Terry on retaining the McRobert Thistle Cup. Terry, Dave Aitken and Ewan finished two up on the course on a beautiful day.

Well done Ashley on winning the first Summer League, a nine hole stableford competition with draws at 9:30 and 5:00 pm.

Entry Sheets for the Coronation and Gerry Dickinson Cups will be posted on the notice board tomorrow along with the Johnstone Trophy. Entries to be made by 30th April. Ties must be played within a specified timeframe with the penalty of forfeiture of the tie.

36 Hole Trophy 2023

It was quite amazing that we had a dry day with glimpses of sun after heavy rain the previous day and doubts about the weather at the beginning of the week.
Buggies were restricted to the 9 holes on the clubhouse side of the road and so we played that nine twice. What a jumble some of the cards were.

Congratulations to Dave Nielsen who ran away with the trophy in winning both rounds. John, Brian Duguid, Jeff and Ashley put in fine performances over the two rounds. We done Terry on winning second place on the day with a better inward half from John.

Opening Day 2023

The season got off to a great start with an exciting contest between the Captain and Vice Captain. The best man won, our captain Bobby, by 15 holes won to 14. We were indeed fortunate with a brief dry spell of weather.

36 Hole Trophy First Round 2023

Congratulation to Dave Nielsen on scoring 39 points over 15 holes at New Galloway. He is going to exceedingly difficult to catch over the Dumfries & Galloway course next week. The ground was absolutely sodden, the fourth green being under water.
Ian McCulloch seems to have gained a new lease scoring 33 points after a net 62 on Sunday.

Next week meet at 9.30 at Dumfries & Galloway Golf Course for a tee off at 10:00.

March Medal 2023

Bobby – beware next Sunday the vice Captain is on fire with his first Hole in One an at the fourth second time round. Don’t sleep in next week with the clocks changing.

Congratulation to Guy with a gob stopping round of 58 ,a superb score. I thought I was playing with the winner Ian McCulloch who scored a classy 62 with some beautiful mid irons into many greens. Our golden boy Alan came in with a 66 and Sandy with the lowest gross score of 74.

I will be collecting the names from the notice boards on Wednesday for the opening day match – Captain v Vice Captain. Please enter your name on one of the lists in each changing room or drop me an email. Please come.
