Kirkcudbrightshire Four Ball Better Ball Championship (Qualifying Round)
The Club will submit the first FOUR pairs in the qualifying event to play in the knock out stages of the Kirkcudbrightshire Four Ball Better Ball Championship.
All members are eligible to compete but players with handicaps of 19 or over must play off a handicap of 18.
There is no age limit. Substitutes will not be permitted after the first round of the competition has been played.
Players qualifying for the knock out stages must be able to play the ties during the week as well as at weekends.
All rounds will be played on the knock out principle over 18 holes by better ball match play under handicap off playing handicaps current at the time of play. Each player will receive three quarters of the difference between his handicap and the handicap of the player with the lowest handicap in the match, half a stroke or more counting as one stroke. Players entitled to receive strokes will receive them at the appropriate hoes in accordance with the stroke index of the course being played.
All matches should be played to a finish with strokes allowed at the extra holes where appropriate.
Starting times should be arranged to allow for the possibility of extra holes being necessary.
Matches should be played from Medal Tees wherever possible.
All players should be able to produce their current handicap certificates for their opponents to inspect if required.
Competitors will be advised of their matches by post. The players named as the ‘home’ players will have the choice of course and it will be their responsibility to get in touch with their opponents by midday on the date specified in the letter. After that time unless it can be shown that they made reasonable efforts, without success, to contact their opponents, the choice of venue will pass to the ‘away’ players.
If any pair is unable to play within the period specified for a round the match will be forfeited to the opponents. If a mutually convenient date cannot be agreed the Championship Secretary must be advised not later than seven days before the date specified for completion of the round. The Kirkcudbrightshire Association will then decide the winners on the basis of the dates made available. Any dispute must be referred to the Championship Secretary and the decision of the Association will be final.
The draw for each round will be arranged where possible to avoid pairs from the same club competing against each other and to give each club and each pair a fair balance of home and away ties.
The final will be played over a neutral course and the final decision on the venue resting with the Association.
